Training of Employers for the Promotion of Safety and Health at Work
The Employers Association of Slovenia participates in the project »Training of Employers for the Promotion of Safety and Health at Work (e-VZD)«, co-financed by the European Union from the European Social Fund and the Republic of Slovenia. Within the project, concrete job adjustments will be made in one of the five most exposed economic activities by the number of accidents at work.
PROBLEMATICS
Demographic changes, such as prolonging life expectancy and decreasing fertility, make changes in the work environment inevitable. The European Union is facing several challenges in the field of active and healthy aging, mainly due to the increasing need to prolong its work activity. Slovenia has also recorded one of the lowest employment rates for the elderly for many years, and thus ranks well below the European average. Apart from the above, there is a high proportion of sick leave in Slovenia, with older employees being particularly prominent.
Elderly people are at increased risk of injury, illness and stress. The work environment can have a significant impact on the occurrence of chronic illnesses, so it is important to adapt the physical, psychosocial and environmental factors of work to the needs of employees.
In the area of occupational safety and health and active and healthy aging, despite numerous projects and campaigns in organizations, there are still too few measures and activities to enable employees to be able and willing to work longer.
PROJECT ACTIVITIES
As part of the e-VZD project, we will raise awareness among employers and the general public about the importance of ensuring safety and health at work, with a particular focus on employees over 45 years of age. We will also raise awareness and train employers to use risk and safety assessment tools in the field of occupational safety and health. Based on the findings, good practices and a set of measures for employers, an e-classroom will be developed and developed to train employers in the field of occupational safety and health. The latter will provide a set of existing legislation, innovative, concrete and successful measures for employers in the field of occupational safety and health and good practices in the area of job adjustment. The established e-classroom will thus bring together all relevant and current contents and information in the field of safety and health at work for employers, professionals at work safety and other interested parties. The project will make concrete job adjustments and build educational and promotional videos based on these. A media campaign, information events and two national expert conferences will be conducted.
