Final conference of the European project "Restructuring and industrial relations in the transport sector - RITS" with a title Sustainable Transport and the role of social partners was organized by ZDS in Ljubljana.
The conference was the concluding event of the one-year project RITS – Restructuring and Industrial Relations in the Transport Sector, which is funded by the European Union.
First, the participants were greeted by Maja Ceglar Ključevšek, RITS project leader at ZDS, who briefly introduced the project activities, and by Robert Sever, director of Transport Association at the Slovenia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who described in his address the situation and the issues of the transport sector in Slovenia.
In the first session of the Conference, Bojan Žlender, Acting Director General, Transport Directorate at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Spatial Planning introduced the measures envisaged for sustainable development of the Slovenian transport sector. Antje Fiehn, representative of the Federation of German Industries (BDI introduced the current legislative proposals at the European Union level in the transport sector. This session was concluded by Maja Knafelc, legal adviser at ZDS who introduced the employment practises in the transport sector.
After the break, the project partners from Croatia, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Montenegro presented specific circumstances in the transport sector in their respective countries.
Finally, a round table discussion was held on the role of social partners in the transport sector, with the panellists being Robert Sever, Transport Association, GZS, Cvetka Gliha, Secretary General of Trade Union of Workers in Transport and Communications, Bojan Novak, expert from transport sector and the participants.
The conclusions and dilemmas highlighted at the Conference will be indicated in a free-of-charge publication to be prepared by the project partners.
